How we identify, vet, and support our scholars.
STEP 1
Identification & Selection
We use a rigorous, community-centered approach to find the students who will benefit most from our support. Our team collaborates closely with local primary school headteachers and community leaders to select candidates based on two pillars of excellence:
- Academic Merit: We prioritize students who have demonstrated exceptional potential and high performance in their national examinations.
- Verified Need: Through personal “home-vetting” visits, we connect with families to ensure our resources reach those for whom a scholarship is the only bridge to high school.
STEP 2
Secure Tuition Management
To maintain the highest standards of financial stewardship and donor trust, the Kaki Foundation manages all educational investments through a direct-payment system:
- Direct-to-School Funding: We transfer tuition fees directly to the official accounts of the secondary schools.
- Institutional Verification: We work hand-in-hand with national and county schools to verify official fee structures and bank details, ensuring every shilling is credited to the student’s education.
STEP 3
Beyond the Fees
Our commitment to a student’s success continues long after the first day of school. We provide a holistic ecosystem of support to ensure they thrive:
- Academic Monitoring: We stay engaged with our scholars by reviewing termly report cards, allowing us to celebrate their progress and offer support where needed.
- Purposeful Mentorship: Through regular check-ins, we provide our students with the encouragement and career guidance they need to envision a life beyond the classroom.
Where We Operate
Our impact is rooted in Kenyan communities. By focusing on these areas, we build deep relationships with local schools and families, allowing us to see the long-term transformation of the neighborhoods we serve.
